Bernie Sanders attends health care rally at convention center

'I don't want to hit Crazy Bernie Sanders too hard yet because I love watching what he is doing to Crooked Hillary, ' Trump tweeted on May 11, 2016.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and his wife, Jane Sanders have hired prominent defense attorneys amid an FBI investigation into a loan Jane Sanders obtained to expand Burlington College while she was its president, CBS News confirms. According to Newsweek, she allegedly fudged college donor levels on the application: Two donors were listed as pledging more than they actually had and a third was listed as willing to donate in the near future despite specifying her donation wouldn't be made until after she died. (According to POLITICO, VTDigger first confirmed the FBI's investigation into the claims in April.) Sanders was pushed out of Burlington College soon after the purchase, and the school was forced to shut its doors in the spring of 2016 due to its huge amount of debt, according to VTDigger.

Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and his wife, Jane Sanders have reported hired defense attorneys amid an Federal Bureau of Investigation probe into potential bank fraud and influence-peddling. In that second document, he alleged that Bernie Sanders' office had put pressure on the bank to authorize his wife's loan. Sanders. And high-profile Washington defense attorney Larry Robbins, who counseled Libby "Scooter" Robbins, former Chief of Staff for the Vice President, is protecting Jane Sanders.

Eventually, the Vermont chairman of the Trump campaign, Brady Toensing (who happens to live in Burlington), caught wind of the loan and filed a claim with the U.S. Attorney for Vermont.

Toensing told CBS that the investigation was started during the Obama administration.

Sanders said at the People's Party summit June 10 that "the current model and the current strategy of the Democratic Party is an absolute failure", the New York Times reported earlier this month.

The loan agreement required the college to provide evidence of more than $2 million in pledged donations as collateral.

These allegations were brought to light when Brady Toensing of Burlington filed the claims with the USA district attorney in Vermont. "My only hope is for a fair, impartial, and thorough investigation".

"Despite the fact that all these charges are baseless", he said, O'Meara Sanders "should be able to consult with an attorney to understand the process".
