Cops Rescue Dogs from 167-Degree Car while Owner Watches Movie

A concerned citizen called 911 after finding a dog left in a hot auto Sunday afternoon, WSB reports.

"The dogs were suffering from heat exhaustion one was suffering from a seizure out on the scene".

After multiple announcements were made in the movie theater, the owner finally came out, police said.

The Impala was parked in direct sunlight, and even though all the windows were cracked, the inside temperature was 167 degrees.

The animals were treated at an emergency animal hospital, and have been released in good condition, WSAV reported.

The owner was charged with two counts of animal cruelty, and both dogs were seized as evidence in the case against her. They asked the public to call 911 if they see an animal trapped inside a hot vehicle to prevent future tragedies. "This dog's been in here for over an hour".

Meanwhile the vehicle, which had no insurance and no ITV, was taken by grua to the local auto depository. And that's when police realized a second dog was also in the auto hiding underneath a seat. All of the windows were cracked, but that doesn't mean, you know, that the vehicle is getting any sort of breeze.

One can only assume the pet owner thought it was okay that the windows were cracked. Police tell us she would have been taken to jail but she had several young children with her so she was ticketed instead. The body camera video released by the department shows what happened in the moments that followed.

According to a report from WXIA, fire crews arrived to provide urgent medical care to the dogs.

She was also recorded on the body camera admitting she had not been out to check on the dogs. They were taken into custody by Fulton County Animal Control.
