New Star Wars series to lure customers from Netflix and Amazon

New Star Wars series to lure customers from Netflix and Amazon

One reason why the service will be cheaper is because it won't have as much content as Netflix, at least in the beginning.

What's the story so far?

This week, Disney CEO also announced that they plan on making sure their streaming service is "substantially below" the current price of Netflix, which now sits at a $10.99 a month price point for U.S. subscribers, and will likely increase in the coming years. As a result, Disney's extensive library of content, including Marvel and Star Wars titles, will be pulled from Netflix starting in 2019.

The earnings report comes amid Disney's alleged negotiations with Fox to acquire some of its entertainment assets.

Indeed, the new movies will be completely separate from the so-called Skywalker saga on which the current films are based.

Sadly, what we don't yet know is whether or not this service will be offered to cord cutters or those with existing cable packages.

What will it be called?

What films and shows will it stream?

"We're going to launch big, and we're going to launch hot". The drop was also caused in part by a profitable sale of classic "Star Wars" movies to television outlets previous year. The Fox deal would've given Disney control of a large portion of Fox's TV shows, which Disney would've then presumably moved over to their upcoming streaming service. TV series, based on the classic Pixar movies, and a High School Musical TV series. Apple committed to a two-season order of 20 episodes total of the untitled series that will center on the lives of morning TV news stars. There are no details yet about any of these shows or when they will premiere. "We can't wait to continue with this new series of films".

The deal between Disney and 21st Century Fox can still happen, a new report from CNBC indicates. He said ABC Productions could end up creating content for the Disney-branded service.

With his comments on Thursday, Iger echoed what Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said back in January, when he argued that the proliferation of competitors in the internet video space only helps to solidify Netflix's standing in the industry.

Which devices will support it?

That service will be called ESPN Plus, he said Thursday.

Disney CEO Bob Iger also spoke about the pricing for their service, saying, "We've given a lot of thought to pricing. But man now I REALLY hope you like The Last Jedi". "That is in part reflective of the fact that we'll have substantially less volume".

Where will it be available?

Properties like the X-Men, Fantastic Four, Cable, and Deadpool are all now owned by Fox and therefore can not be utilized by Marvel Studios. Netflix now charges between $8 and $12 a month.
