Manmohan Singh video attacks PM Modi, Amit Shah questions his 'anger'

The sharply-worded attack was virtually the same as the written statement that the 86-year-old Congress leader had released on Monday following Modi's remarks insinuating that Singh had colluded with Pakistan in the Gujarat polls.

"I am deeply pained and anguished by the falsehood and canards being spread to score political points in a lost cause by none less than Prime Minister Narender (sic) Modi".

Thus, in 42 months of Modi government, it has increased by 5,65,966 crore, "Mr Surjewala said."Prime Minister yesterday said that NPA is the biggest scam".

The Election Commission of India, while announcing the elections for Himachal Pradesh, had postponed announcement of the Gujarat elections, which the opposition Congress alleged was aimed to allow Prime Minister Modi and the BJP to launch initiatives like the Ro-Ro Ferry service, the Bullet train and other programmes.

He claimed that "even the name of Gujarat" was not uttered by any of the persons present and people only discussed India-Pakistan relations and ways to improve them.

Wednesday's meeting holds significance as a war words ensued between the present and former prime minister, leading to a controversy amid elections to the Gujarat Assembly.

"We are seeing a very angry Manmohan Singh ji these days".

The Congress party needs no sermons on "nationalism" from a party and prime minister, whose compromised track record on fighting terrorism is well known, he added. Why did he not consider it appropriate to apprise GoI about such a meeting with a neighbour like Pakistan.

He said the nation missed Singh's anger when the "monumental loot and plunder" were taking place during his tenure as the prime minister.

In a video message posted on Twitter, Singh accused Modi of spreading "falsehood and canards" to score political points and seeking an apology for his "ill-thought transgression".

"Amused to see the Congress party so desperate before the Gujarat elections".

The Congress tweeted: "Former PM Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress President-Elect Rahul Gandhi pay their respects to the martyrs who died protecting the Temple of Democracy in #ParliamentAttack of 2001".
