What's open, closed over the Christmas holidays

While many gas stations and convenience stores will remain open throughout Christmas week, it's suggested people call ahead to confirm their operating hours. The company filed for bankruptcy back in September, and a rumor went around earlier this week that they were looking to close a hundred stores.

Barnes & Nobile will be open from 8 a.m. -11 p.m. on December 22 and 23. St. Catharines Transit will have no service on Christmas day, but will have holiday hours for Boxing day.

Bed Bath & Beyond will be open from 8 a.m. -11 p.m. through Christmas Eve. The department store opened up Thursday and will not lock its doors until 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

The CBRM offices will close Friday at 4:30 p.m. and reopen Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., while Access Nova Scotia and Land Registration offices will be closed from Friday at noon until Wednesday. Trees should be put at the curb by 7 a.m. with all decorations removed.

CVS, except those in Target stores, will operate on its normal schedule on Christmas Eve and Christmas.

Chemists open in Chippenham will be Boots from 10am-4pm on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, Lloyds from 9am-10pm and 10am-4pm on Boxing Day, Morrisons from 10am-4pm on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day, and Sainsbury's from 10am-4pm on Christmas Eve and 8am-5pm on Boxing Day.




P.E.I. liquor stores will be open from 12 p.m.to 5 p.m.

Costco Wholesale: Opens at 10 a.m.to 8 p.m. on December 23, and from 9 a.m.to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Metro will once again fill the role of designated driver for holiday party-goers this year, offering free rides on all Metro bus and rail lines on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Murphy's Queen Street Pharmacy and Food Market will be open 11 a.m.to 5 p.m.

Waste: There will be no garbage, organics or recyclables collection services on Christmas Day.

Sprouts is open regular hours until closing at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve.
