2G Verdict Is Vindication, Says Rahul Gandhi, Targeting PM Over "Lies"

2G Verdict Is Vindication, Says Rahul Gandhi, Targeting PM Over

MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi for visiting temples - "mandir hopping - while campaigning in Gujarat and ignoring mosques and dargahs".

Gandhi accused Modi of being silent on the Congress' questions about the "change in Rafale deal". He termed the Gujarat campaign as "unique" and "a real eye-opener" for him, where he got to know how the BJP designs campaigns and "uses hatred and untruth" to fight elections.

The Congress chief will talk to leaders from South Gujarat, North Gujarat, Central Gujarat and the Saurashtra-Kutch region and ascertain the reasons behind the party's defeat, though the party had improved its performance over 2012 elections.

The party workers' meet will be held at Gujarat University Convention Hall at GNBC ground in Ahmedabad. "Our party played a very positive role in keeping everybody together", he added. "3-4 months ago, people were questioning if the Congress could even contest elections in Gujarat", the Congress leader said.

Interacting with mediapersons here at his party office here, Mr Owaisi said the temple politics of both parties indicated that they were deliberately attempting to politically marginalise Muslims.

They dwelt on how "false propaganda" on the 2G spectrum allocation under the UPA government had become the BJP's most potent weapon to malign the Congress as corrupt. The truth is, however, out in the open that BJP made a profession out of its conspiracy of lies and falsehoods to gain power at any cost. BJP, particularly Mr Narendra Modi, Mr Arun Jaitley and their stooge, Vinod Rai created a "fallacious web of allegations of corruption".

While Sonia Gandhi continues to be the CPP leader, there are mixed views among leaders on whether she should soon hand over the leadership of the parliamentary wing of the party as well. "The party will be taking action against them", he said. "All lies, the truth of the 2G is out there now", he told reporters after the meeting. Former prime minister Singh raised the issue of the challenges ahead for the party.
