Italian company 'Steve Jobs' wins battle with Apple to use name

For those who thought Steve Jobs only refers to the flamboyant Apple CEO who also created the iPhone along with so much more are in for a pleasant surprise, there is also a clothing line going by the same name.

Apple is known for being in court a lot. But then, there is a chunk bitten off of it just as with the Apple logo.

As The Verge reports, it started back in 2012 when Italian brothers Vincenzo and Giacomo Barbato realized Apple hadn't trademarked the name Steve Jobs, so they did instead.

A Steve Jobs by any other name doesn't sound as sweet, but is perfectly legal.

"We will still respect the name of Steve Jobs: we will not do anything low-level, you will never see the phones or TV shoddy with the brand Steve Jobs", they said. However, for now, at least, the brothers are free to use both the name and the logo.

Apple went after the company for use of a J logo with a bite taken out of it which Apple says is similar to their own logo, the court ruled against Apple and rejected their claims of trademark infringement. According to Business Insider Italia, Apple focused on the logo and because the J isn't a fruit, the brothers told the outlet, the chunk can not be a bite, as in the Apple logo.

"The letter J seems "bitten" but it is not, since a letter, as judges have also decided, cannot be bitten", the brothers told Business Insider Italia.

Italian Steve Jobs now makes jeans, clothing and accessories, but they hope to venture into electronics soon.

"We are working on a line of very innovative electronic devices", the duo told Business Insider.

What do you think of the court's decision to allow Steve Jobs to exist as a non-Apple affiliated company?
