Mandeville Kmart will close in early April, company announces

The closures announced on Thursday were in addition to 63 stores Sears is closing this month, having also shuttered 330 stores in 2017.

The Sears at the Berkshire Mall in Wyomissing and Kmart's last Berks store in Cumru Township have again been kept off the chopping block as the Illinois-based company takes steps to stay in business.

The latest round includes the Red Oak location on N Broadway set for early April.

The Bangor Daily News reports Sears Holdings announced Thursday it's closing its location in the Bangor Mall in April.

Liquidation sales will begin as early as January 12 at the stores being closed, the company stated.

But with the rise of e-commerce, Sears and other traditional brick-and-mortar retailers have struggled to keep pace with digital darlings like Amazon.

That will leave Sears with less than 940 operating locations. It now has 1,104 stores across the country.

CNBC reported that Sears didn't say how many employees would be impacted by the closings, but a majority of the jobs are part-time positions and eligible employees would receive severance.
