Meet the Activists Who Walked the Golden Globes Red Carpet

While award show red carpets used to be filled with answers to the question, "Who are you wearing?" this year, actresses largely used their time at the microphone to advance their causes.

Many wore black on the red carpet to stand in solidarity with the wave of women and men who spoke up about being sexually harassed in Hollywood.

In keeping with the spirit of the empowering Time's Up movement, eight actresses will take female activists as their plus-ones to the Golden Globes Sunday night.

From a mother/daughter winning duo (Diana and Tracee Ellis Ross) to the woman with the most ever Globes wins (Meryl Streep), 2018 is all about the ladies.

Streep will attend with Ai-jen Poo, the director of the National Domestic Workers Alliance; Williams with Tarana Burke, the founder of the "me too" movement; and Watson will bring Marai Larasi, the executive director of Imkaan, a black-feminist organization.

Meanwhile, singer Kelly Clarkson, who wore an off-the-shoulder black dress with golden sleeves, said Sunday night that she hopes this statement extends past the red carpet.

"Women in Hollywood have an opportunity to amplify the issues and shine a light on things".

"That's the future, and we have momentum, and we want to say to everyone that they should join us", she explained.

Emma Stone brought Billie Jean King, whom she portrayed in "Battle of the Sexes".

Woodley's date is Suquamish Tribe member Calina Lawrence, who advocates for Native American treaty and water rights. Sarandon will be bringing along Rosa Clemente, who has campaigned for voter engagement among youth of color, third party politics, United States political prisoners, the rights of Puerto Rico to become an independent nation, and media justice. King founded the Women's Sports Foundation and the Women's Tennis Association, and has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom for her efforts.
