Dolores O'Riordan's Death Not Being Treated As Suspicious

Dolores O'Riordan's Death Not Being Treated As Suspicious

Frontman Tommy Vext says in a statement: "Zombie is an incredibly personal song... and we always felt the rawness and honesty she projected on stage and in her recordings was something to which all bands should aspire to". The London Hilton on Park Lane confirmed "with deep regret" that an unnamed guest had "sadly passed away" at its hotel.

Her band - Noel and Mike Hogan and Fergal Lawler - posted a message on Twitter saying: "We are devastated on the passing of our friend Dolores".

The Cranberries last night led tributes to their "extraordinary" singer.

She shot to global fame, and today she's being remembered around the world by fans who flocked to one of Ireland's biggest ever musical experts.

The singer, who was originally from Limerick, lead the band to worldwide success in the '90s with hits including Linger, Ode to my Family and Zombie.

Those who gathered to express sympathy said the 46-year-old band member, who was from Friarstown, Kilmallock in Limerick, was a lovely person and they were shocked and saddened at her sudden death. Her publicist announced her passing on Monday afternoon, simply stating: "No further details are available at this time".

"Her unique style of singing, although I found it peculiar when I heard Zombie for the first time (I must have been 13 or 14), as time went by, I started adoring her for the very "peculiarity" itself!"

"A woman in her mid-40s was pronounced dead at the scene", the spokesperson said.

No cause of death has been given, but police yesterday said in a statement that her death was not being treated as suspicious.

Tributes have also poured in from the world of music for the mother-of-three, while a number of fans braved the adverse weather conditions to sign a book of condolences opened at Limerick City and County Council. "Dolores and the band are very disappointed that it has come to this and send their honest apologies to all fans and ticket holders, and hope to see you all again in the future when Dolores is well again".

In the aftermath of Dolores O'Riordan's tragic death, details about her awful past struggles with depression, bipolar disorder and more have come to light.

"I had anorexia, then depression, a breakdown", she admitted in a 2013 interview.

Limerick musician Ray Murphy said the authenticity of her voice was what made O'Riordan appeal to so many people. My wife came home from the police centre where she worked yesterday and told me the news.

Ms Sexton said it was important for her to record her sadness. We also want to hear from readers who were affected by the Warrington bombing and their memories of that fateful day. She kept the links with Limerick.
