IOS 11.3 to bring battery health status, new Animoji and more

In a somewhat controversial move, Apple is adding a new health records feature to iOS Health app. Apple insisted it was simply trying to extend the lives of older iPhones, but issued an apology last month and promised to replace batteries in affected devices at a $50 discount, lowering the price to $29. The update adds a new "Health Records" section to the app, allowing users to access their medical records from several providers in one place. According to a recent tweet by the editor of iHelpBR Filipe Esposito, there were some clues found inside of the beta of iOS 11.3 that seems to suggest that there could be a new iPad in the works.

It could stick with IPS LCD technology, and knowing Apple, the tech giant could take advantage of the stacked motherboard design to make the iPad Pro more energy efficient and give the company sufficient room to incorporate a larger battery capacity. The battery monitoring app will also allow users to shut down battery management to return their device to full speed, but with the risk of shutdowns.

Souped-up internals are expected, though, with Apple expected to stuff its next iPad Pro with its as-yet-unannounced Apple A11X CPU, which is expected to be a 7nm chip that Apple reportedly started developing with TSMC earlier this year. Geisinger patients will need a MyGeisinger user name and password to log in and download medical records in the app.

Apple confirmed in December that software in its iPhone 6, 6s and SE models, which deals with dangers from ageing batteries, could slow down the phone's performance. Apple says Messages will support Business Chats, allowing businesses to communicate directly with users.

With Business Chat, consumers can conduct a conversation with a company representative, schedule an appointment or make purchases using Apple Pay in the messages app. Business Chat doesn't share the user's contact information with businesses, Apple stated, and users can exit a chat at any time. Among the companies that will support Business Chat when it comes out are Discover, Hilton, Lowe's, and Wells Fargo. A user then needs to connect to Apple's software system for accessing the data from the service.

Apple Inc's move on Wednesday to give iPhone owners information about the health of their batteries reverses the company's longstanding refusal to make such information available directly on iPhones and iPads, even though battery health has always been easy to check on Apple's Mac computers.

For iPhone X users, iOS 11.3 will also bring in four new Animoji: a lion, a bear, a dragon, and a skull.
