Daley Blind negotiating move to AS Roma

Blind made himself a regular when he first moved to Old Trafford, starting in a defensive midfield role before being converted into a central defender by Louis van Gaal.

The Dutchman has slipped to third choice at left back, and down to sixth choice at centre back this season, making just five appearances in the Premier League this season. The 27-year old was earlier linked with a shock move to Barcelona as well, however those rumours died down pretty quickly and Roma are the latest suitors in his pursuit.

Roma need someone to replace Emerson - and while Blind is not a natural like-for-like replacement, he is much more defensively solid than Aleksander Kolarov and his defensive discipline would appeal to Eusebio di Francesco.

"I can confirm that Roma want him but Manchester United don't want to let him go on loan, only on a permanent basis in the summer".

Speaking about Roma's interest, Danny told La Roma24: "Right now, the time is running out, because it's the last day of the window".

Manchester United will not give the green light for Daley Blind to join Roma in this window, according to the player's agent.

It is said the Red Devils will then likely trigger the one-year extension in Blind's deal and look to sell him for an increased amount next summer instead.

He played every minute of United's Champions League group campaign, however, Mourinho's men topping their pool to book a last-16 meeting with Sevilla.

"Mourinho wants to keep him in the group". It would take a few days, maybe a week, but they are available a few hours.
