Man City offer player plus cash for Riyad Mahrez in £65million deal

Man City offer player plus cash for Riyad Mahrez in £65million deal

Riyad Mahrez is "depressed" that a proposed record move to Manchester City is being stopped by Leicester, a friend of the winger has told Sky Sports News.

In order to sign Algeria global Mahrez they would likely have to break the record again, with Leicester unlikely to let the 26-year-old leave for less than £90 million.

According to reports, he did not train with his teammates on Tuesday, before Leicester's trip to Everton in the Premier League.

Transfer deadline day is a bit like the champagne supernova of football. In August he was widely reported to be at an airport ready to fly to Europe if any clubs came in for him.

"I've had it confirmed that Man City are walking away from Riyad Mahrez - the deal is off".

The Leicester winger has submitted a transfer request.

"We've heard Leicester's team-mates are "angry and upset" with Mahrez because he hasn't travelled with the squad to Everton". He then helped them make history in winning the Premier League title and he has done what the chairman has asked of him, which is to stay at the King Power and secure the club's Premier League safety.

There were no suggestions as to who the player Manchester City offered is. City were very interested in bringing in Mahrez but he will not be moving to City in this window.

"He's given his all for Leicester. Joining City would have been a dream".

Pep Guardiola will go with Bernardo Silva and Brahim Díaz until Sané comes back, which is a risk but is not the worst alternative in the world.
