We are sensitive to demands of Andhra MPs: Government

Though the meeting was summoned to discuss the alleged "raw deal" meted out to Andhra Pradesh in the Union Budget, a speculation was rife that the TDP, the only ally of the saffron party in south India, may walk out of the NDA fold over the BJP's "treatment" to the party. On being asked if the BJP will ignore Akali Dal, party leader Naresh Gujral said that it is not possible as Akali Dal is BJP's old ally and they have an unbreakable bond. It should be noted here that during the TD Parliamentary Party meeting, Rajnath Singh called Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and assured him that all issues would be resolved.

The TDP, which has been an ally of the BJP and a member of the NDA between 1998 and 2002, and again since 2013 to the present, is reportedly looking at a political alternative in the run-up to the 2019 general elections.

Secondly, the Centre would tighten its screw on release of funds for Naidu's projects like Polavaram and Amaravati (which would be released in different forms) by raising several queries and both the projects would come to a halt, causing vast damage to the TDP's electoral prospects. "Though gross injustice was done to Andhra on account of bifurcation, I aligned with the only because having good relations with the Centre could undo the injustice", Naidu apparently told the TDP leaders. As of today it (the alliance) is just going on. "Naiduji is feeling slighted and that is why he got in touch with Uddhav sahib", he said. On 23 January, Thackeray had declared that the Sena, another NDA constituent, would fight the next round of elections alone.

"We are unlike the Shiv Sena or some other party".

He had said that the TDP executive would in all probability meet on Sunday to take a final decision on the matter. "Naidu could be unhappy but he is not the one who would resort to such tactics".

A senior BJP leader says TDP and Chandrababu will be losers as Polavaram at 58000 crore is centre's head ache and Naidu govt already 27000 crore revenue loss has no resources to complete it.
