Rumour: Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is this year's CoD game

The publisher may not confirm Black Ops 4's existence despite these reports, but they'll likely highlight or even tease info around the game. What you do get in the box though is a fantastic return to form for Call of Duty with a solid multiplayer that will hopefully grow and evolve in future map pack updates.

Just like sports simulations that receive an annual refresh, gamers already expect a yearly installment from Activision's popular shooter and see a new Call of Duty game. However, it has been established that it will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the Switch.

Are you excited about another instalment of Black Ops, or would you have liked to have seen something different from Treyarch this year?

Sellars has a notable track record, having previously correctly predicted the Dark Souls Switch port and Nintendo Labo before both were announced.

Although Activision and Treyarch are working on a new Call of Duty game, the two have not disclosed that it will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

Earlier we reported on a rumor from industry insider Marcus Sellars who said that Black Ops 4 is not only happening, but will be this year's annual Call of Duty game.

If some other rumors are anything to go by, this year's Call of Duty will resemble Black Ops 4.

2017's entry in the series was Call of Duty WWII, which brought back a historic setting.

The last Call of Duty game for a Nintendo console was 2013's COD: Ghosts, which launched for Wii U. Released in 2015, Black Ops 3 was set in 2065 and featured a sci-fi plot.

The teaser campaign for Black Ops 4 shows that it may as well end up on the Switch after all.

We know it can be done - Black Ops 2 had a perfectly enjoyable campaign with really interesting multiple endings.
