Taliban bomber kills 11 soldiers in Pakistan's Swat Valley

Taliban bomber kills 11 soldiers in Pakistan's Swat Valley

In a statement, the ISPR said that the suicide blast took place in Sports Area of Army Unit in Kabal.

Those martyred include seven personnel who were critically injured in the attack. They allegedly carried out the attack on the orders of Taliban leader Maulana Fazlullah.

Security forces have cordoned off the area and are searching for possible accomplices of the bomber. The injured were later shifted by rescue officials to a hospital in Saidu Sharif area of Swat, according to government sources.

A few days ago, the Swat police claimed to have arrested two militants, in the same area, allegedly involved in anti-state activities during spillover of militancy to the Swat valley. The operation involved evacuating 2 million people from the valley.

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the military would continue its war against the Taliban. Abbasi pledged that the country's security forces will "fight until the last terrorist is eliminated". On Friday, Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said Pakistan was partly to blame for a wave of recent attacks in Kabul, and that Islamabad was harbouring the Afghan Taliban. "No cowardly attack can deter us in pursuing our struggle against the menace of terrorism to its logical conclusion", he said.

The army advanced toward Mingora, the largest city in the valley after it launched the Swat Operation, also known as Operation Rah-e-Rast, in May 2009.
