Storm brings freezing rain and snow to US Northeast

Driving has been a challenge on Wednesday due to several inches of snow, although the total amounts may be less than originally predicted.

Heavy, wet snow will race from the southwest to the northeast, arriving around 10 a.m.in the south and around noon in Greater Bangor, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow will linger into Saturday as well with another inch or so through the morning possible.

Montana is gearing up for its second winter storm in less than a week, and it's expected to create big problems for travelers.

There is a Winter Storm Watch for Lafayette, Green, Rock and Jefferson counties for Thursday night and Friday, as those areas would see the highest snowfall amounts as it stands now. Slow down when traveling on snow covered roads. Snow will fall at its heaviest at night with lighter accumulations expected through Friday morning.

We get a little breather from the snow on Wednesday night and Thursday, but it's not long before the next round of winter weather arrives across southeast MI.




Our area is right on the line between snow and ice as the storm picks up, but forecasts warn some areas will see a half of a foot, while others will get 3 inches and yet others will be dealing with ice and rain.

This heavy snow could snarl Friday commutes in Chicago, Milwaukee and Detroit. Be prepared for reduced visibilities and hazardous travel conditions at times.
