Trump Called Former Chief Of Staff Priebus To Complain About John Kelly

He was operating on an interim security clearance.

Kelly said he found out only Tuesday night that the accusations against Porter "were true".

Russian Federation already looking to interfere in 2018 midterms Dems pick up deep-red legislative seat in Missouri Speier on Trump's desire for military parade: "We have a Napoleon in the making" MORE was unhappy with deputy press secretary Raj Shah on Thursday after Shah said the White House could have done a better job handling the situation surrounding abuse allegations against former staff secretary Rob Porter, according to CNN. And yet Porter kept rising in the White House.

The story in Washington continues to snowball, as new questions arise about when administration officials learned of the abuse allegations.

Raj Shah, the Principal Deputy Press Secretary of US President Donald Trump, has made his daily press briefing debut at the White House, becoming the first Indian-American to do so.

The White House did not respond to questions about Hicks on Friday morning. Porter resigned on Wednesday after his two ex-wives accused him of physical and emotional abuse.

But as CNN reported Thursday, it was widely known by early fall of previous year among top aides - Kelly included - that Porter was facing trouble obtaining security clearance and that he had allegedly abused his ex-wives.

In her interview with TODAY, Willoughby rejected Porter's claim that her public statements about him were part of a "coordinated smear campaign".

A president's staff secretary typically would be cleared for a level of security called Top Secret Sensitive Compartmented Information, allowing him or her to handle extremely sensitive information, according to a former White House official with knowledge of the process.

In his resignation statement, Porter said "these outrageous allegations are simply false". Beginning after Kelly assumed his chief of staff role over the summer, he directed that all documents that Trump would see should be vetted by both him and Porter.

Trump's senior aides knew for months about the allegations levied against Porter by his ex-wives, even as Porter's stock in the West Wing continued to rise, multiple sources have told CNN. "He wants to see us move from a process now existing in law, of extended family chain migration, towards merit-based legal immigration reform", Shah said.

Willoughby said Porter asked her to say she had taken some "liberties with that therapeutic post", but, she said, "when I thought about it, I didn't". And they came amid rampant White House finger-pointing about who knew what, and when, about the severity of the spousal abuse allegations. More than 15 women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct.

Asked what she might tell her ex-husband now, Willoughby said she hopes that "in the wake of losing his reputation and career and the things he values most that he will be able to go inside and find the things that actually do matter most about him".

Close Trump aide Rob Porter stepped down from his post as staff secretary Wednesday, despite his denial of grim accusations of abuse by his two ex-wives-one of them released a photo of herself with a black eye she says he gave her. During their honeymoon in Myrtle Beach, the bursts of anger that she had already become familiar with were "more intense", she said.

In a second incident, she said, Porter punched a hole in the front door, prompting her to call police and get a temporary restraining order.

The FBI investigation into his security clearance was never closed, according to Shah. He also said Porter had been "terminated", before later clarifying that he had resigned.
