Expected finalists for Kirk Cousins: Broncos, Cardinals, Jets and Vikings

Two teams likely to target one of this year's top passing prospects are the Denver Broncos and New York Jets, both of which have top-10 selections with which to take a swing on a new face-of-the-franchise player.

It comes as no surprise following the Redskins trade to bring in Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith on January 30th. "I'll have to talk to him and see where he's at mentally".

Broncos linebacker Von Miller has made it widely known that he wants Cousins in Denver.

"There's a lot of situations that work out where your Plan A is never the plan that works out and Plan B or C works out even better", Bowles said.

Cousins posted a picture with the Cardinals wide receiver to Instagram on Friday, with a caption that will make Cardinals fans very excited.

One of the moves they are reportedly considering is cutting ties with cornerback Aqib Talib, which would enable them to create an extra $11 million in cap space. However, they fear that there is little they can do to dissuade Cousins from joining the Minnesota Vikings when the time does come. Two days later, the free agency signing period begins. Restructuring the contracts of players like Chandler Jones or Patrick Peterson would help as well, but given the future commitments the Cardinals already have on their books, that could be a unsafe game.

As the start of free-agent season approaches, rumors about quarterbacks available in the market continue to swirl. The New York Jets have more cap room and likely more cash for a heftier guarantee.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, several teams are interested in taking on Teddy Bridgewater as starting quarterback. So here the Jets are, potentially about to spend big on Cousins. The Broncos are expected to pursue Kirk Cousins in free agency, but they will not be alone, and that should be the first major domino to fall this offseason.
