Man City 1-0 Chelsea: 'Antonio Conte tactics awful to watch'

City are 18 points clear of second-placed Liverpool after beating Chelsea 1-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday and need just four wins from their final nine games to be sure of the title.

Arsene Wenger insisted he was still the right man to turn around Arsenal's fortunes after a 2-1 loss to Brighton on Sunday saw the Gunners suffer their fourth straight defeat in all competitions. Arsenal hasn't lost four matches in a row since 2002.

With Conte's future uncertain at Chelsea as he struggles to repeat the success of his first season, Italian Football Federation (FIGC) vice-commissioner Alessandro Costacurta has said he is the primary choice to return to the national team.

When a team like Chelsea has this attitude, the rest of the Premier League has no hope. However, he immediately broke the deadlock just 35 seconds into the 2nd half to give City the lead which was enough to secure the three points.

Speaking after the match, Redknapp did not hold back, giving a scathing assessment of Chelsea's performance against City. You have to play with great intensity in every moment. "But I'm not so stupid to play open and lose 3-0 or 4-0".

Sane created the hosts' first big chance 21 minutes in when he slalomed past three Chelsea defenders before feeding Bernardo Silva, whose shot dipped just too late and dropped onto the roof of the net.

Meanwhile, TWO Manchester City players arrived on the top five list of most successful passes in a Premier League game, with Ilkay Gundogan breaking the record set by Yaya Touré against Stoke all the way back in that memorable title-winning season of 2011/12. Lewis Dunk and Glenn Murray were the gleeful recipients.

"It is very hard, almost impossible now", Wenger said of Arsenal's top-four chances, "we are too far behind".

"We played United away and City away".

The only teams to have any kind of success against City this season have been those who have been prepared to fight fire with fire.

The Portugal midfielder backed up his goal in the 3-0 win over Arsenal on Thursday with the victor against Chelsea.

Bernardo Silva had to be content with a place on the bench for most of the first half of the season, with Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling unstoppable on the flanks.

Such was City's control of the game that the team didn't miss injured holding midfielder Fernandinho, who has been a crucial figure for Guardiola this season.

"I tried, but for sure when we chose to play with Pedro, Hazard and Willian there is a bit of difficulty to have on the bench the players to change the game, we tried to change the game with the two strikers".

All the Chelsea players just seemed to accept that was the way they were playing that day but, when you are on the pitch, you have to change the game.

"Since we were together here with Sergio, the last month and a half, two months, is the best Sergio I have seen".
