Michael Porter Jr. Will Play in SEC Tournament After Back Injury

Missouri is expecting star freshman Michael Porter play Thursday when the Tigers will play their first game of the SEC Tournament against the victor of Wednesday's Georgia-Vanderbilt contest.

Porter, who had back surgery in November, has played 2 minutes this season. Martin told reporters throughout the season it was Porter's call when he felt ready to return to the court. Coach Cuanzo Martin - which still has Missouri headed to the NCAA Tournament, even without its best player - said Porter will come off the bench. I don't have it in my head to say, 'He's play this many minutes and that's it.'. "Unless the trainer or Mike says otherwise, he's playing".

"I think he will play tomorrow", Martin said. As the No. 5 seed, Mizzou will play the victor of Wednesday night's game between Georgia and Vanderbilt. He played two minutes and scored two points before leaving with an injury.

Porter was medically cleared in February and has practiced with the team sporadically since.

Porter is still projected as top five pick in the 2018 National Basketball Association draft.

After finishing the regular season with a 20-11 record, Missouri is now projected as a No. 8 seed in the NCAA tournament by ESPN's Joe Lunardi.
