Uber Kenya signs deals with nine firms for driver benefits

The program is being expanded to Washington, D.C.

The organization said it anticipates expanding its vehicle or truck leasing program outside san francisco bay area, according Jahan Khanna, head of merchandise for mobility at Uber. The two companies have been working in the city for about a year and now the citizens can rent a auto for a few hours or the whole day via Uber's app.

Uber will also introduce new technology that continuously monitors new offenses by drivers using data sources that cover most new criminal offenses.

"Having e-bikes, on a dockless basis, available in cities in a responsible way is going to allow more and more people to move around in cities", Khosrowshahi said, "but move around in ways that are efficient, that don't cause traffic, that don't cause issues with the environment". And we're chipping away at that piece by piece, and this is an important aspect of that. In January, Uber launched a pilot to allow users to book rides on Jump's bikes in San Francisco in its app. In a press release, Checkr also named Lyft, Uber's biggest U.S. competitor, as a customer. Uber said that it is committed to providing further links to public transit.

"We're particularly excited about JUMP Bikes because they can provide a convenient and environmentally friendly ride that's often faster, especially in dense cities where space is limited and roads can be congested", said Khosrowshahi. This tie-up, announced this week, will see Uber add public transit mobile ticketing into the Uber app.

The Federal Trade Commission will expand its oversight of Uber following the disclosure of its improper withholding of a 2016 security breach that exposed sensitive data for more than 25 million users.

Most recently CEO at travel site Expedia, Khosrowshahi took over the reins at Uber last August from Travis Kalanick after the company endured several months of nonstop scandals, ignited by allegations of a toxic corporate culture brought to light in a memo early a year ago by former engineer Susan Fowler. It is an online tool to measure travel times across various parts of a city by tracking trips in terms of being faster or slower over time.

These cities include Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore Hyderabad, Amsterdam, Brisbane, Cairo, Melbourne, Nairobi, Perth, Pittsburgh, and Toronto, it added.

In order to enhance the system entirely, Uber has partnered with RapidSOS. The data will be shared by Uber on popular curbs for pickups and drop-offs of ride-hailing services.

Uber has not named the company providing the technology that it will use to flag offenses in real time.

"After misleading consumers about its privacy and security practices, Uber compounded its misconduct by failing to inform the Commission that it suffered another data breach in 2016 while the Commission was investigating the company's strikingly similar 2014 breach", said Acting FTC Chairman Maureen K. Ohlhausen. It is our honest hope that things get right ticks for the convenient ventures the company is working on.
