Man sets world record after eating 30000th Big Mac

Man sets world record after eating 30000th Big Mac

In the last forty-four years, there have been only eight days in which he did not eat a Big Mac - most recently, on 23 November 2000.

Don Gorske was honoured by the restaurant chain after he scoffed down the milestone burger in the Fox Valley, Wisconsin branch of Maccies this Friday. And that in turn would work out to consuming 1.786 Big Macs every single day since the Nixon administration. That's a hell of a lot of burgers to eat.

We could have gathered that much.

On Friday, he ate his 30,000th order.

He recalls that he had just received his driver license when he entered the McDonald's 45 years ago.

"This one is a biggie for me, something I have been looking forward to".

"People like to see proof", he said.

Mr Gorske keeps receipts to prove his burger bites, and has been eating them regularly since 1972. The man lost around 7,000 containers in 1990 when a tornado hit his house.

The Big Mac-aholic has also kept close tabs on his own stats over the years, estimating that it took him just 356 days to eat his first 1000 Big Macs - which clocks in at more than two per day. Think a stay-cation package at mom's favorite hotel where she can have a few cocktails and lounge by the pool but rather than spending on them, most moms surveyed said they'd like to spend a real day or two off.

Gorske orders several burgers every Monday from a McDonald's restaurant near his home.

Asked about the haters and doubters, Gorske was serene: "People make fun of me, but it never bothered me". "At my last medical check-up I had low cholesterol and my blood pressure was ideal". Over the almost 46 years since he had the first Big Mac, Gorske had only gone a total of eight days without eating one.

He hasn't looked back since then.
