Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law teaming up again for 'Sherlock Holmes 3'

He's also stepped into the shoes of the world's greatest detective on more than one occasion, and he's apparently ready to take another turn as Sherlock Holmes.

It feels like we've been waiting forever for the next Sherlock Holmes instalment - the Robert Downey Jr. starring one that is. Downey and Law will reprise their role as British detective Sherlock Holmes and assistant Dr Watson, respectively.

We will remind, the first film of the series "Sherlock Holmes" was released in 2009 and two years later came the sequel "Sherlock Holmes: a Game of shadows".

On the big screen though, the most notable version of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classc stories have been the all-action Guy Ritchie directed films. The plot is yet to be announced. Write the script Chris Brancato, who kinoklassika known for his work on "Hannibal" and "confidential materials".

It will be interesting to see what new plot the upcoming film will focus on.

It has been eight years since Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows was released and Warner Bros has now made it official that Sherlock Holmes 3 will be out on December 25, 2020. There was also the issue of getting the two busy lead actors and director in the same room at the same time, with Robert quipping that the whole thing would have to be filmed over Skype. The other film, which is now filming, is "The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle", in which Downey Jr. will be seen playing a character who can speak to animals.
